Cookie policy

What cookies Koal uses and how to control them.

Effective date: 1 May 2026

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, and pixels — work in comparable ways. In this policy "cookies" refers to all of these. They allow the Platform to remember things between page loads, keep you connected to your wallet, and where you have consented, help us understand how the Platform is used.

Legal basis

Essential cookies are set without consent because they are strictly necessary to deliver the service you have requested (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR and § 25(2) TTDSG). Analytics cookies are only set after you give explicit consent through our cookie preference centre (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TTDSG). You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Cookie categories

Essential cookiesAlways on

Strictly necessary for the Platform to function. Without these the site cannot work properly. They include:

NamePurposeDuration
koal-cookie-prefsStores your cookie consent choice so we don't ask again on every page load1 year
koal-txsPersists in-flight transaction state across page reloads so a refresh does not lose contextSession
wagmi.*Wallet connection and network state; set by the wagmi library to keep your wallet connected as you navigateSession
rk-*RainbowKit wallet UI preferences (last-used wallet, chain selection)Session
Analytics cookiesOptional

Used to understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it — page visits, feature interactions, performance metrics. Data is aggregated and pseudonymous. We do not share analytics data with advertising networks. Only active if you have consented.

Third-party services

Some functionality of the Platform involves third-party services that may set their own cookies or local storage entries on your device. These third parties act under their own privacy and cookie policies, which you should review:

  • WalletConnect / Reown — used to establish encrypted wallet connections. Privacy policy.
  • RainbowKit — wallet UI library, sets local storage entries for wallet selection. Privacy policy.
  • Your wallet application — the wallet you choose (MetaMask, Rainbow, Coinbase Wallet, etc.) operates independently and follows its own policies.

The Platform does not currently integrate Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any advertising network's cookies. If that changes in the future, this page will be updated and consent re-collected before any new tracking is enabled.

Managing your preferences

You can review and change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the cookie icon in the bottom-left corner of the Platform. You can also:

  • Clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings.
  • Configure your browser to block cookies — note that essential Platform functionality may not work if you do.
  • Use browser extensions to block analytics tracking across the web.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Changes

We may update this Cookie policy as the Platform evolves. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes — for example a new analytics provider, or the introduction of any advertising-related cookies — will be reflected here and consent will be re-collected where required.
